- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 0.25 teaspoon cocoa powder
- 1 pound ground turkey meat
- 14.5 ounce canned tomatoes
- 16 ounce black beans
- 1 bottle beer
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 bunch cilantro
Instructions
1. Gently heat the oil in a large pot. Do not let it smoke! 2. Add the onion, bell pepper, garlic, and jalapenos. 3. Saute over medium heat until soft, about 5 minutes. 4. Add all powdered spices and stir to coat vegetables. 5. Add turkey. 6. Saute for three or four minutes, until just cooked through. Use your spoon or spatula to break it up. 7. Drain the juice from the peeled tomatoes into your chili pot. Then finely chop the tomatoes and add them as well. Stir. 8. Add the black beans, the beer, and the soy sauce. Stir. 9. Add cilantro and stir well. 10. Cover and allow to simmer over low heat for five to ten minutes. Then turn off the heat and let it rest for about fifteen minutes before serving. 11. Optional 12. Garnishes: Top with low-fat sour cream, grated cheese, avocado slices, chopped green onions, or anything else that suits your fancy! I love to eat it with tortilla chips.
